Pick your video tool

6 min read

You know how AI video works now — the frames, the keyframes, the sound, the talking avatars. So which tool do you actually open? There are a dozen, and they don't line up from best to worst. Each one is the best at something different.

There's no single best tool

It's tempting to ask "which video tool is the best?" — but that's the wrong question. The tools aren't ranked one to ten; they're specialists. One generates sound with the picture. One nails the most lifelike motion. One is quick and playful on your phone. One is built for cinematic camera moves. One makes a real presenter speak another language. The right move is to name your job first, then reach for the tool built for it.

Video tools aren't ranked best-to-worst — they're specialists. The skill is naming the job, then picking the tool built for it.

Match the job to the tool

Read each job and tap the tool made for it. There's no single winner — only the best fit for what you're trying to do. A right match tells you why it fits.

The same clip can call for a different tool depending on the job — sound, realism, speed, camera, or a talking presenter. Match the specialty, not the name.

What decides for you

Two things narrow the choice fast. First, the job: do you need generated sound, the most realistic motion, a quick clip, a cinematic camera move, or a talking presenter? Second, cost — a chat message is a glass of water, an image is a bathtub, and a video is a whole pool of compute, so video tools charge in credits and the free tiers are short and watermarked. Start from the job, then check what a clip actually costs.

The exact tools and prices change almost every month — new models launch, others shut down. Don't memorise a leaderboard. The lasting skill is the one you just practised: name the job, then match it to the specialty. The names will change; the way you choose won't.

The gist

You need a 10-second ad where a real spokesperson says the same lines in both English and Ukrainian, with the mouth matching each language. Which tool fits best?
